Most sailing schools are run efficiently and
professionally but as in all business, there are many that are not. It
is well worth noting that many schools are suffering from the effects of
the depression and are having to make sacrifices in order to survive.
Unfortunately those sacrifices are often made in the
quality of service that is offered. Our advice is to take great care
when selecting your sailing school to make sure you are getting the
service you expect.
It's also worth noting that many people who have had
a good time with a particular sailing school often re-book and ask for
the same instructor. It's common for a sailing school NOT to ensure that
the same instructor is available. Some actively ensure that the same
instructor is not used for reasons of control. i.e. the instructor does
not become more important than the school.
